In searching Title starting with leave out the initial article in any language you are searching a document. For instance, if you search the book The Desert of the Tartars you have to type Deserto of the tartars,
The history of Albania type history of Albania;
Lowercase letters will find matches of capitalized words also. For instance, computer will find matches either for computer, Computer
and COMPUTER, BANK will find matches either for Bank, bank and BANK.
Use ? e ! to hide parts of a word or to find different spellings. For example,gun? will retrieve gun, guns, gunners,
gunnery, gunning, etc. For example: ? ology will retrieve anthropology, archaeology, psychology; for example will retrieve alumi?m aluminum,
aluminium, wom!n will retrive the singular noun as well as the plural.
Boolean AND is assumed between words. You may use the Boolean operators AND,
OR and NOT in your search string. For example, if you type (heart OR cardiac) AND surgery the system will retrieve all records that contain
heart o cardiac, together with the word surgery;
If you search (wom!n and donn!) NOT history the system will retrieve records which contain the first two terms (singular and plural) but not the word history.
If you search (narrativa ragazzi) NOT fiab? it will retrieve records which contain either narrativa and ragazzi but not the terms fiabe or fiaba.
ATTENTION: In searching from Words from index of volumes and journals the use of hidding characters is not allowed.
